Mandy has had a lifelong love of the arts. Mandy spent the first half of her childhood in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, then spent the last 25 years in Denver Colorado. She attended The Art Institute as well as Metropolitan State University in Denver, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. Her teaching experience spans the last 15 years in Metro Denver and now Wilmington NC. As an educator she has worked with students of all ages, toddlers to elderly. She has taught students from all backgrounds and believes strongly in working within the community and building strong communities and families through educational programs and service. She has also worked in various programs serving young adults with disabilities. Aside from being an educator Mandy has also had multiple studio residencies as a fine artist, has shown art in numerous exhibitions, and opened her own studio space within Denver to develop her personal art as well as her ability to teach outside of public education. Away from teaching Mandy works in various mediums such as photography, painting, jewelry, sculpture and mixed media. Over the last 5 years she has cared for her special needs son, becoming a certified CNA, as well as two other boys. During this time she created an affordable community art program called Works of Hearts. This allowed her the freedom to continue her passion while still raising a family. Beyond art education she has practiced yoga for 15 years and is a certified kids yoga teacher. Mandy plans to continue to be a student of yoga as well as fine arts and would like to become an art therapist in the near future.
